James Harold "Jimmy" Doolittle (December 14, 1896 – September 27, 1993) was an American military general and aviation pioneer who received the Medal of Honor for his daring raids on Japan during World War II. He also made early coast-to-coast flights, won many flying races, and helped develop instrument flying. Henry Russell Spicer (b. Feb. 16, 1909, Colorado Springs, Colo.-d. Dec. 4, 1968) received his commission as 2nd lieutenant in 1935. He advanced through grades to major general in the U.S. Air Force in 1953. He was commander of the 17th Air Force, 1958 to 1962, then the 25th Air Division (SAGE) at McChord Air Force Base, Washington, from 1962 to 1964. He retired from Air Force service in 1964.
